Longfellow Shorts: Elizabeth Strout

The Portland Stage Affiliate Artists are back with another edition of Longfellow Shorts, presenting readings, commentary and questions with contemporary authors. This time featuring the work of Pulitzer prize-winning Maine author Elizabeth Strout. Her recent story collection, Olive Kitteridge, won the Pulitzer for Fiction in 2009.

Elizabeth Strout is the author of Abide with Me, a national bestseller and Book Sense pick, and Amy and Isabelle, which won the Los Angeles Times Art Seidenbaum Award for First Fiction and the Chicago Tribune Heartland Prize. She has also been a finalist for the PEN/Faulkner Award and the Orange Prize in England. Her short stories have been published in a number of magazines, including The New Yorker and O: The Oprah Magazine. She splits her time between Maine and New York City.

The Affiliate Artists will stage a dramatic reading from Olive Kitteridge, as well as readings from some of Strout's favorite works. As with all Affiliate Artists events, festivities will be held at Portland Stage Company at 25a Forest Avenue. The event is open to the public on a pay-what-you-can basis.
